They might look different, but your dog shares his anatomy with the grey wolf – which means he’s evolved as a carnivore and adapted for a diet rich in meat, protein, and fat. Based on this biological fact, and to produce a nutritional analysis that mirrors the diet Mother Nature would provide for your dog, ACANA features richly nourishing proteins and fats, and limits unwanted carbohydrates.
Just like you, your dog is unique with feeding requirements that vary with environment, age and activity. That’s why we suggest using this chart as a starting point, and monitoring your dog’s weight and adjusting his rations as needed. We also recommend feeding him twice daily and always keeping fresh, clean water available. When switching diets, it’s important to transition your dog as it takes time for his digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ACANA. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ACANA, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ACANA. He’ll love the change – we guarantee it!
Serve dry or lightly moistened. To help maintain freshness, we recommend sealing the bag tightly and storing it in a cool, dry location.
GESTATION: INCREASE FEEDING 25% TO 50%. LACTATION: FEED 'FREE CHOICE'.
ACANA mirrors the meat and protein concentrated diets that all dogs are evolved to eat, while reducing high-glycemic carbohydrates that cause blood sugar levels to rise and fluctuate. Compared to conventional foods, ACANA delivers more calories from protein and fat and fewer calories from carbohydrates, reducing the risk of obesity and diabetes and promoting peak conditioning. Metabolizable Energy is 3393 kcal/kg (407 kcal per 250ml/120g cup), with 32% from protein, 30% from vegetables and fruits, and 38% from fat.
